I've consulted with a number of companies in my long career. Part of this process is, naturally, working with stakeholders at these organizations to secure the value you've created (sometimes they're great
AI heresimachs,
sometimes they're
AI firestarters,
sometimes they're
wet traditionalists,
and sometimes other types entirely). This process is the bread and butter of being an org's AI partner - getting people excited and on board with your vision.
But not all AI efforts are the same. Sometimes, you'll be able to detect that something is going wrong in the middle of the project. IT is being obstructionist, the board uses words like "profligate" and "irresponsible" to describe stakeholder spending on your services, and sometimes people in the org are just turd-a-rific. When this happens, you need to decide - are you Châteauneuf-du-Pape or Colt-45-du-Lando-Calrissian? Are you willing to
transform the organization to grow it to higher highs,
or are you happy just
watching
Transformers?
Data-driven decisioning takes courage. Everybody's doing it, but nobody has the courage to actually
do
it. It sounds counterintuitive, but it's true. Take a chance, make a change, and break away from the pack. Be the
champagne
of data-driven business value-drivers.
